Thanksgiving Food for the Soul
Taken from Thank you…You are Appreciated
Written and Compiled by Ellyn Smith

Saying thank you is not some debt we pay to God and others, an obligation, a cultural courtesy. No, expressing our gratitude is much more important than that. In fact, the Bible indicates that it is essential to our spiritual well-being.

The thankful heart accepts that it is not the center of the world. It acknowledges its dependency on others. Humility and thankfulness walk hand in hand, and love springs from their union.

When I reflect on my past, I’m surprised to see the ways God worked out the details of my life. At the time, events seemed chaotic and out of control; and yet looking back, I see now the pattern being woven. At the center of my memories, again and again I find Christ, “planted like a tree” by time’s swirling river.

As we say thank you to those who have done so much for us, we must never forget to look beyond them to the Giver of all gifts, our Creator God. He is the source of all good, and His love speaks through human kindness. Our every should breath be filled with gratitude, for He has given us everything.

 In everything give thanks:
for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus
concerning you.

1 Thessalonians 5:18

Notes from Miss Sue

Updates: I’m giving thanks to the Lord that He has increased our CSA family. I want to welcome Tristan Ray and his mom and dad, Deb and Ted. Tristan is ten years old (one month away from being eleven). I’m looking forward to how the Lord will use CSA to bless Tristan and his family and how CSA will be blessed by them.

I am also giving thanks that after nearly twenty years of being a dream the V.I.P. Clowns Inc. is finally a reality. The V.I.P. Clowns Inc., under the direction of Dee Mechling, is an Adult Rehab based on clowning. Many of you already know Dee as Polly Ester. Polly Ester and her good friend Sleepy Dreams gave CSA’s Jesus Jesters their start, so we already know several of the joeys (student clowns) in the new program. In fact, we have clowned with them in the past and look forward to many more clowning opportunities with them as both groups strive to make the world a better place—one laugh at a time!

Besides giving us more opportunities to become better clowns, the V.I.P. Clowns program will be a financial blessing to CSA as they are our newest renters for our lower wing. This is a HUGE blessing!!

Just in case you didn’t hear, this year’s FLL team scored the highest number of points at the recent scrimmage in Akron. I’m very proud of them as you should be. They are now working feverishly to prepare for the upcoming regional competition which will be held in Canton on December 12. Please keep their endeavors in your prayers.

Reminders:

No classes on both Friday and this coming Monday. Enjoy some quality family time.

Your Trash Is Still Needed: Containers are on the back porch for your rinsed cans—thanks so much! Crushing your pop cans sure helps conserve space in the recycling containers. Your Boxtops for Education are also needed.

While we encourage you to stop in and visit your CSA home at anytime, we do need to ask you to stop first at Miss Cindy’s desk in the Parlor. Please let her know the nature of your visit. She will then relay the message to me. Again, we welcome you at any time—as in any school or place of business; we just need you to follow protocol.

As always your financial and prayerful support is greatly appreciated and very much needed.

Please join me in praising God daily for His blessings BIG and small!
